The Kent-Meridian Volleyball Program (KMVB) proudly hosts a Teacher Appreciation Night each season to recognize the phenomenal educators who have made a lasting impact on our student athletes' lives. Over the years, players have invited a diverse range of teachers, including elementary educators, former coaches, counselors, advisors and more. KMVB shares, "often teachers go unnoticed or unappreciated. We want to honor those who have truly made a difference." Round of applause for our incredible teachers and congratulations on the win, KMVB!

We are sharing information about a threat to some schools that was posted on social media. We have learned this is a nationwide threat circulating in our area with both local police and the FBI investigating this situation. Two Kent School District schools, Kent-Meridian High School and Springbrook Elementary School were on a list of 20+ schools in anonymous social media posts on multiple platforms. Kent Police have investigated and have advised there is not a credible threat and to conduct normal school activities. Kent Police will continue to monitor the situation, and schools may see an increased police presence today. We appreciate the quick response by our community to notify us about this issue. Please communicate with your children the importance of reporting anything concerning to an adult and if anyone has additional information about this threat, we encourage you to call 911. The safety of all students is always our primary concern regardless of the credibility of a threat. Keeping our schools safe is a shared responsibility and we value our partnerships with families and staff.

Starting as early as preschool and kindergarten, regular attendance is essential for students gaining the academic and social skills they need to thrive. Research shows that when students are chronically absent (missing 10% or more of the school year or 18 days over an entire school year), they are less likely to read proficiently by third grade, achieve in middle school and graduate from high school.
