For the past nine years, Lynsey Nielsen has worked as an occupational therapist (OT) for the Kent School District. Occupational therapists help students access the skills they need to participate more fully in a classroom setting. OT's often work with the school psychologist and speech therapist to provide a holistic view of each student. "I love working with kids. Day to day my job is never the same, and there's also lots of collaboration," Lynsey said. #OneKSD #OneTeam To learn more, visit https://bit.ly/435Suu6

For Barbara Griffin, an 8-year math teacher at Mill Creek, numbers are more than symbols on a page—they’re tools for life. As we celebrate Mathematics Awareness Month, she shares how her work helps students see math’s real-world power and why perseverance matters more than perfection. "If you're willing to put in the work, you'll be fine," Griffin said. "It's those little lightbulb moments that add up each day." #OneClass #OneKSD

Timothy Jenkins knows what it’s like to need support—and what it means to pay it forward. As an autistic student in the Kent School District, he once relied on a paraeducator to help him navigate school. Today, he stands in those same shoes, serving as a substitute paraeducator for the district that shaped him. His journey—from supported student to supportive mentor—is a testament to resilience, community, and the power of believing in potential. #OneTeam #OneKSD Read more about Timothy's journey: https://www.kent.k12.wa.us/article/2171464
