The Kent School District remains committed to protecting the privacy and security of student, employee, and dependent information. This notice concerns a recent data security event that may have involved some of that information.
What Happened
Frontline, a software service used in the Kent School District, and by many other school districts in Washington State and across the nation, experienced a cybersecurity incident that may have resulted in the exposure of personal data of some current and former employees.
Frontline’s security team identified a vulnerability in a third-party software product that allowed unauthorized access to a portion of Frontline’s environment. Frontline has advised that it investigated the incident with an independent cybersecurity firm, remediated the vulnerability, engaged law enforcement, and strengthened its security controls.
This incident does not involve the district’s internal networks, email, or other digital systems. The incident occurred within Frontline’s environment, and the district was not the source of the incident.
