The Kent School District (KSD) is proud to announce that its Communications and Public Affairs Team has been nationally recognized with three prestigious awards from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA), the premier organization for school communication professionals across the United States.
This year, NSPRA honored the KSD Communications Team with the following awards in its annual National School Communication Awards:
Award of Excellence: KSD Connected Community Magazine
Award of Excellence: OneCommunity Video
Award of Merit: Kent School District and School Websites
These accolades represent the highest levels of achievement in school communications and reflect the team's outstanding commitment to transparency, community engagement, and celebrating student and staff success across the district.
"These awards are a testament to the creativity, professionalism, and dedication of our communications team,” said Superintendent Israel Vela. “Their work supports transparency, celebrates student and staff success, and helps build trust across our community. Whether it's crisis response, recognition, or daily communication, their impact is felt throughout the district.”
The Award of Excellence is NSPRA’s top honor, recognizing exemplary work that sets the standard for effective communication in school districts nationwide. The KSD Connected magazine, mailed to over 65,000 homes in the KSD boundaries, and OneCommunity video were both selected for their compelling storytelling, visual impact, and ability to unite and inform a diverse audience.
The Award of Merit for the district and school websites highlights the team's efforts to ensure accessibility, ease of navigation, and timely information for families, staff, and the broader community.
Whether providing vital updates during emergencies, highlighting the achievements of students and educators, or keeping families informed and engaged, the Kent School District Communications and Public Affairs Team plays a vital role in building trust and fostering a sense of unity throughout the district.
