As part of our commitment to equity, inclusion, and continuous improvement, Kent School District (KSD) is embarking on a collaborative effort to reflect on and strengthen how we serve students through our Inclusive Education (IE) program. This work is part of our broader OneKSD vision—unifying OneClass, OneTeam, OneCommunity to ensure every student thrives.
To support this important initiative, KSD has partnered with Public Consulting Group (PCG), a nationally recognized organization with deep expertise in special education and school systems. Together, we are conducting a comprehensive program review that will inform how we can strengthen services, remove barriers, and create more inclusive learning environments for students with disabilities.
What the review includes:
This process will include a variety of data-gathering activities designed to reflect multiple perspectives and experiences:
Classroom visits: To observe instructional practices and supports in action.
Staff, student, and family focus groups: To gather feedback directly from those we serve and work alongside.
Interviews with key stakeholders.
Data and document reviews: To analyze current practices and identify areas for growth.
These components will help KSD better understand the strengths and opportunities within our current model and make informed decisions about the future of our Inclusive Education programs.
Our Commitment:
This review reflects our districtwide belief that all students deserve access to high-quality, inclusive learning experiences. By centering the voices of students, families, and staff, and aligning our practices to evidence-based strategies, we are investing in a stronger, more equitable future for our entire school community.
We look forward to sharing updates as we continue this important work together.
OneKSD=OneClass, OneTeam, OneCommunity-working together for every student.
