The Kent School District is spotlighting student talent this spring with a full lineup of musicals across its high schools, offering the community several opportunities to experience live theater throughout late April and May.
Kentlake High School
Kentlake High School presents the musical presents Alice by Heart, a whimsical and emotional production inspired by Alice in Wonderland. Performances run:
April 30 through May 3 and May 7 through May 10 with evening shows at 7:00 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2:00 p.m. matinees on weekends. The show highlights the creativity and imagination of student performers as they bring a reimagined Wonderland to life. Purchase tickets here
Kentridge High School
Over at Kentridge High School, the Kentridge Players take on the Tony Award-winning comedy The Drowsy Chaperone. Known for its humor, energetic numbers, and playful nods to classic Broadway, the production runs April 29 through May 2 and May 6 through May 9. Evening performances begin at 7:00 p.m., with matinees scheduled for May 2 and May 9 at 2:00 p.m. Purchase tickets here.
Kentwood High School
Meanwhile, Kentwood High School brings a beloved fairy-tale classic to the stage with Into the Woods. Showtimes are set for May 6–8 and May 11, 14, and 15 at 7:00 p.m., with two performances on May 16 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The production weaves together familiar storybook characters in a complex tale about choices, consequences, and community.
Kent-Meridian High School
Rounding out the season, Kent-Meridian High School presents The Spitfire Grill from May 14 to May 16 at the KM Performing Arts Center. Based on the 1996 film, the show tells a heartfelt story of hope and second chances in a small town. Performances begin nightly at 7:00 p.m., with tickets priced at $10 for adults and $5 for children. Purchase tickets here.
