OneKSD Art Contest

Celebrating the Unique Perspectives of Students & Staff

The OneKSD Art Contest open through May 14, 2025, invites students from all grade levels and staff across the Kent School District (KSD) to visually express the meaning of unity, collaboration, and shared identity within our diverse community. Through original artwork, participants will showcase how different schools, cultures, and experiences come together to form a strong and connected district.

Who Can Participate

Each Kent School District student or staff member may submit one entry in their category:

  • Elementary Students: Grades K-5

  • Middle School Students: Grades 6-8

  • High School Students: Grades 9-12

  • Academy/Program Students: iGrad, Kent Laboratory Academy, Kent Virtual Academy, or TOP

  • Staff: Employees from any KSD building or team

How to Create Artwork

Create an original artwork that represents what OneKSD means to YOU. Themes may include unity, diversity, inclusion, collaboration, and community within Kent School District.

Size

Artwork must be 8.5 inches by 11 inches, portrait (vertical) or landscape (horizontal). Digital files must be high-resolution (at least 300 dpi).

Medium

Artwork may be created using any traditional or digital medium (drawing, painting, photography, collage, digital design, etc.).

Need paper for your artwork? Visit your school office to grab a printed entry form and use the back as your canvas.

How to Submit Artwork for the May 14 Deadline

All entries must be received by May 14, 2025. Late or incomplete submissions will not be accepted.

Upload Your Artwork Online

If you’ve created digital art or want to take a photo or scan your piece, upload your high-resolution (at least 300 dpi) file using the Electronic OneKSD Art Contest Entry Form. You’ll need access to an email account to complete your submission.

Submit Your Artwork in Person

If you need paper or prefer to submit your original artwork in person, pick up a printed entry form at any school office or the KSD Administration Center (12033 SE 256th St., Kent) after April 18. Return submissions to any of the 45 locations.

How Entries Will Be Judged

Volunteer judges from the KSD community will evaluate entries based on:

  • Creativity & Originality: Your unique vision of OneKSD

  • Relevance to Theme: Connection to unity, diversity, and collaboration

  • Artistic Quality: Effort, technique, and presentation

  • Emotional Impact: Ability to inspire pride and connection

Want to get involved? Volunteer to Judge by May 2!

Staff, parents/guardians, and community members are invited to help us choose the winners. Submit the OneKSD Art Contest Volunteer Judge Opt-In Form by May 2 to participate. If you or your child enter the contest, you'll be excluded from judging your own category but are welcome to judge others.

How Contestants & Winners Will Be Recognized

All eligible entries will be showcased on the KSD website and Facebook in June.

Category (elementary, middle, high school, academy/program, and staff) winners will be surprised at their school between June 2 and 17. Winners will:

  1. Receive a small prize

  2. Be announced on KSD websites and social media as well as featured in KSD publications/newsletters

  3. Have their artwork displayed at the KSD Administration Center for at least the 2025-2026 school year

Terms & Conditions

  • By entering, contestants grant KSD permission to use and display their artwork. Their name, grade, school, artwork title, and artist statement may be shared on platforms such as the KSD website, social media, email newsletters, and publications.

  • Artwork with inappropriate or offensive content, or that doesn’t follow the submission guidelines, will be disqualified.

  • Artwork copied from another artist or created using artificial intelligence (AI) tools will be disqualified.

  • Entries missing a completed form or attached artwork will be disqualified.

  • All judging decisions are final.
