Kent School District is expecting at least a $35 million budget shortfall for the 2026-2027 school year. Like many districts in Washington State, we are dealing with lack of ample state funding, rising costs for daily operations, and fewer students enrolling. To stay financially stable in the long term, we must make choices about how we use our resources.
Survey Open Through January 25
We are inviting students, families, and staff to share their priorities by completing a brief survey. The KSD Budget Feedback Survey takes about five minutes to complete and will remain open until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2026. It is available in English, Punjabi, Spanish, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese.
Community Budget Meetings
Thank you to everyone who attended our first in-person community budget meeting on January 12. If you could not attend or would like to review the information, a recording of the staff presentation and the slides are available on our Budget Updates webpage to access anytime.
We will also offer a virtual community budget meeting on Saturday, January 24, at 10:00 a.m., providing another opportunity to learn more and ask questions. Please join us via Zoom.
We value your input as we plan for the future together as OneKSD.
