Dear Parents and Community Members, We are excited to share the positive impact of the Backpack Buddies program at our school! This program provides weekend food bags to students experiencing food insecurity, ensuring they have access to essential nourishment over the weekends and return to school ready to learn. This program relies on the generosity of our community to provide the needed food items each week. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, can make a real difference in the lives of our students. Here's how you can help: · Visit our Amazon Food Wishlist: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3RV13KCH4ZA10?ref_=wl_share · Choose the items you'd like to donate from our easy-to-use list. · Drop off your donations at Cedar Heights Middle School (19640 SE 272nd St, Covington, WA) throughout Monday -Friday                                     OR Always feel free to donate any food you might have that is unopened, new in box, or unperishable foods! Any donation helps. Together, we can fight hunger in our community and ensure all students have access to the food they need to thrive! Thank you for your support. Badminton is a fascinating sport. It's a little bit volleyball, a little bit tennis, a whole lot of fun to watch. If you get a chance this season, our badminton players would love to have you come cheer them on at a match!

Starting as early as preschool and kindergarten, regular attendance is essential for students gaining the academic and social skills they need to thrive. Research shows that when students are chronically absent (missing 10% or more of the school year or 18 days over an entire school year), they are less likely to read proficiently by third grade, achieve in middle school and graduate from high school.

Fall iReady begins this week. This assessment helps teachers know where students are and what supports or supplements, they may need to reach their potential. Students will be assessed: 9.16 and 9.17 in Math and Science Classes 9.19 and 9.20 in English and Social Studies Classes We would love your partnership in encouraging students to get a good nights sleep, eat a good breakfast, and try their best! We will be incentivizing the assessment by a little friendly class competition. 1. Number of assessments completed (per grade level) 2. Least number of "rushing" flags (per grade level) The grade level with the most completed and/or the least number of rushing flags will be recognized at our October grade level assembly If you want to know more about iReady visit https://ireadycentral.com/familycenter/what-is-i-ready/

Cedar Heights Open House Thursday, September 12th, 6-8:00pm, CHMS Gym. We are excited to meet our Timberwolf parents/guardians this week! With 900+ students and families we are asking for adults only to attend this event. This will give the opportunity for adults to hear from our CHMS team, meet staff, and tour the building. Students should be bringing home the parent schedule with their schedule written in. In the event that they forget, please write down or screen shot your students schedule prior to arrival. If your students has an Individualized Education Plan, please join us for an IE Open House at 5:15 in the library.
