Cedar Heights PTSA is excited to be part of the Reflections Art program again this year! This National PTA arts recognition program helps students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning.
We invite all Cedar Heights students to participate and reflect on this year's theme "I Belong!".
Please see flyer for more details 😊
Belonging can be found in various contexts, such as family, friendships, workplaces, sports teams/clubs, cultural or religious communities and even online groups. Belonging is not about being similar or identical to others. People can belong to groups even if they have different backgrounds, perspectives or experiences because no matter how similar a group is, no one is the same. When we recognize and embrace the differences in the groups we belong to, we broaden our understanding of the world.
PTSA will be accepting art entries up through November 13th. Categories include visual arts, photography, literature, music composition, dance choreography, and film production. All participants will need to complete the submission form pertaining to their category (this includes a title and description of their piece as to how it relates to the theme).
Please review the National PTA guidelines on crafting an entry: Craft an Entry - Reflections Arts Program | National PTA.
All complete entries will be awarded a PRIZE and have the opportunity to advance to the local, state and national levels. A few general guidelines to consider as your child starts their project...
• Titles or artist statements must be the student’s own words and interpretations of the theme.
• Artist's statement must include at least 10 words and not exceed 100 words.
• Do not “recycle” artwork by submitting a piece created for other purposes (e.g., homework not related to Reflections; art used in another competition)
• Decisions in the creative process must be made and/or directed by the student. If support is required, it should be limited and appropriate to the student’s grade and needs.
If you have any questions or need support getting your child started, please reach out to Erin at nature@gatorspta.org. Thank you for supporting student engagement in the arts ❤️

Dear CHMS Families,
We are approaching our laptop deployment. If you are the parent/guardian of a 6th grader, they need to have a signed agreement form to be issued their school laptop. Your 6th grade student should have received the form in their 1st period class on Friday the 29th of August. Please remind your student to have the form signed and return it to their 1st period teacher, no later than Friday the 5th of September.
Thank you so much for your help,
Kirstin Duckett CHMS Librarian and Technology Specialist
