Meeker Students attended the "Color of Justice Conference" at Kent Municipal Court.
Meeker students had an exceptional experience. They began the day hearing from Federal Court Judge Jamal Whitehead, who spoke about imposter syndrome, staying determined and connected to one’s purpose, and navigating life with a physical disability. Following this session, students participated in a mock Appellate Argument with Judge Monica Cary, where they had the opportunity to defend positions on either “banning TikTok” or “protecting TikTok.” Each student took on a courtroom role: Judge, Lawyer, or Bailiff, which allowed them to actively engage in the legal process. They concluded the day with pizza and a discussion about various legal career pathways.

Turkey Give-Aways to Meeker Families a Success! Under Dr. Devlin’s leadership, we were empowered to reach out to local food banks, churches, and community partners—and together, we made a real impact. Thanks to generous support from Northwest Life, Seattle Union Gospel Mission, Marjorie’s Helping Hand, and We Love Kent, we were able to provide 55 Meeker families with turkeys, rice, potatoes, onions, oatmeal, and other essentials to bring a little relief during the holiday season. We are proud to serve our Meeker Mamba community. When we come together, we rise together!

Meeker Middle School was proudly represented by three Unified Robotics teams at an event featuring 31 teams from across Washington. All of our teams demonstrated exceptional teamwork, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm as they worked collaboratively with their unified partners on robot building and programming.

I am thrilled to share that our students earned three awards:
• Team Perseverance Award – for their resilience and consistent effort throughout the competition.
• Pit Display Award – recognizing their organized, engaging, and informative pit presentation.
• Exceptional Feature Award – highlighting a unique and innovative aspect of their robot.

Additionally, the Meeker Mambas advanced to the finals, becoming one of the top finalists in the entire competition and earning a special finalist badge. This was an incredible accomplishment for the students and a proud moment for our program.

Beyond the awards, the most inspiring part of the day was the learning process. After every match, students analyzed their robot performance, refined their programming, and made adjustments to improve. They communicated with other teams, exchanged strategies, and displayed exemplary team spirit. Their dedication to learning and willingness to improve after each round made the experience truly meaningful.

Our students worked exceptionally hard to prepare for this competition, and their growth, collaboration, and commitment were remarkable to witness. It was an excellent representation of Meeker’s values and the power of inclusive robotics. Congratulations Mrs. Agnihotri and the Meeker Robotics Club!

Congratulations to IAN KOO! A thankful rep from the Renton Olde Fashioned Halloween Festival would like to recognize Meeker student Ian Koo for his kindness and incredible helpfulness. During the event, Ian went out of his way to lend a hand when the festival tent took off in the wind gusts. He held on to it in the pouring rain and even helped pack up the booth when conditions were anything but easy. His willingness to step in without hesitation truly made a difference that day. He demonstrated generosity and teamwork, as well as community spirit. Thank you Ian!

If the federal government shutdown continues, food assistance benefits in Washington will end on Oct. 31, 2025. Losing food assistance will have devastating impacts on the well-being of hundreds of thousands of Washington residents and will hurt local economies across the state. DSHS has more information about the impacts as well as what clients can do to prepare for the loss of benefits.

Dear Meeker Families,

Our ASB Mamba Run Fundraiser has begun. The Mamba Run itself will be on Friday, October 24th from 1:50 – 2:50 PM during the last school hour.

ASB stands for Associated Student Body, and it is a formal organization of students. ASB funds help to support all students participating in extracurricular activities such as after school sports, cheer team, clubs, school dances, movie nights, other special events, school celebrations, student recognitions, etc. Students will have the opportunity to walk/run the track with their friends, listen to music and get their Mamba Run T-Shirt sprayed with dye. This fundraiser is a great opportunity for students to bring awareness to the financial need of ASB and help raise monies.

There two levels of participation that your student can choose between:
· $20: Includes participation in the event and a white Mamba Run t-shirt to get sprayed with dye and have as a souvenir after the event.
· $10: Participation in the event only, no shirt.
Turning in permissions slips and payment for the participation fee can be made at the Cashier office. Accepted payment methods are Cash, Credit Card and Apply Pay.

Additional contributions can be made online via: HERE

We have a limited supply of shirts so get yours while supplies last. Students will receive their Mamba Run t-shirt on the day of the event.

Students who qualify for a waiver of fees through Kent School District may participate and receive a T-shirt free of charge. If you qualify for free/reduced meals ( MEAL APP NOW by Systems Design ) please complete and sign the attached consent to share form and turn it into the ASB window.

The dyes purchased from SEI Crafts are non-toxic. This year's colors include all of the colors of the rainbow! Please have your student wear clothing and footwear that is suitable for this occasion. The dye may stain some items. If expensive clothing is worn at this event, Meeker is not held liable for any dye or damage done to that clothing. Please encourage your student to wear shoes, pants/shorts, and any undergarments that will not be ruined if some dye gets on them. Every effort will be made to keep the dye on the white shirts only.

Our goal this year is to reach $5,000 for Meeker Middle School ASB. Help us reach our goal!

Hello Meeker Students and Families,

We are very excited for the start of the 2025-2026 school year. Staff are eagerly preparing for students to return. We have several announcements and information to start the school year.

First Day of School (Wednesday August 27th):

Students in 6th grade will start at regular time (8:15AM). Breakfast will be served before school then students will have an opportunity to meet all their teachers, learn about Meeker, and become familiar with the campus. Students in 7th and 8th grade will start 3 hours late (11:15AM). We will be in an alternative bell schedule for the first day. All students will report to their 1st period teacher upon arrival.

Student Schedules:

Student schedules will be printed and available for pick up before students arrive on the first day of school, 6th grade on stage in courtyard, 7th and 8th grade in the courtyard near rooms 601 and 603. Students may also view their schedule in Qmlativ Skyward. Please note that we will process schedule corrections if there is an inappropriate academic placement, a repeat of the same class. (Example: 2 English classes), a gap or missing period in their schedule or there is a current health issue that requires a change in schedule. Schedule correction request forms will be available in their 1st period class, counseling office, or main office. Schedule correction forms should be returned to the main office.

We anticipate changes in student schedules to occur as well. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. Schedule changes may occur because we have a higher enrollment than projected and need to confirm attendance of students. Attendance is an important part of school. Please contact MKAttendance@kent.k12.wa.us if your student will be absent. Schedule changes will help balance class sizes and potential of adding more classes in compliance with Kent School District policies and Kent Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreements.

Lockers:

Students may request a hallway locker during Open House on September 24th. We are encouraging students to wait until after the school year starts to determine if they want and will use a hallway locker. If your student needs a locker before Open House, they may request one through their counselor.

All students will be assigned a padlock for PE during class. Students will need a change of cloths for PE however, they will not need this change of cloths on the first day of school. Their teacher will communicate when to bring PE cloths to school. We have PE cloths available for purchase online or through Meeker cashier's office. Student may use the optional Meeker PE cloths or bring their own from home.

Student Devices:

Student device distribution is Wednesday September 10th and Thursday September 11th.

Picture Day:

Picture day is Tuesday September 9th.

Meeker Spirit:

We are excited to officially announce that Meeker Middle School has been approved to adopt a new mascot: the Mambas! Order your Spirit Wear Today! https://bsnteamsports.com/shop/MAMBAS Order Yearbook and ASB online! https://wa-kent.intouchreceipting.com/
