If the federal government shutdown continues, food assistance benefits in Washington will end on Oct. 31, 2025. Losing food assistance will have devastating impacts on the well-being of hundreds of thousands of Washington residents and will hurt local economies across the state. DSHS has more information about the impacts as well as what clients can do to prepare for the loss of benefits.

This year, to build community in our building, we will have at least one spirit day a month, usually planned and organized by our Student Leadership Team. This September, on Monday the 15th, we will be celebrating almost a decade of Dot Days. Students, staff, and visitors are encouraged to get creative and wear dots to celebrate courage, creativity, and collaboration. Inspired by the book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds, students have been reading, creating, and discussing all week in the library why International Dot Day happens at Fairwood. And don't worry, if you forget your dots, hundreds of dot stickers will be passed out on Monday!
