Kent School District remains committed to providing a meaningful one-day outdoor learning experience for all 5th-grade students and has budgeted for one extended day of camp in the 2025–26 school year.
Fundraising
To sustain—and potentially expand—this opportunity in future years, the district is partnering with the Kent Schools Foundation to raise funds. All donations will support outdoor learning for every fifth grader, ensuring these students have access to this valuable experience without financial barriers. We encourage groups, individuals, and organizations to raise funds and donate through the Kent Schools Foundation.

Planning for the 2025-2026 School Year
Planning for this spring’s outdoor learning experience is underway, and principals are currently scheduling their extended one-day camp experiences. Educational equity is our top priority. Waskowitz staff and district leaders are working to design an experience that is accessible and educational for all students. Additional details will be shared by your school in the future.
Parent Volunteers
Family involvement will continue to play an important role. Parent volunteers will be needed, and families interested in helping are encouraged to complete the VIPS form: Volunteer | Kent School District. A 10:1 student-to-adult ratio is needed. Classroom teachers count toward the ratio.
Example: Class of 30 → 2 parent volunteers + classroom teacher
Outdoor Education Survey
The outdoor education survey closed November 13. Thank you to everyone who participated results are now being analyzed and will be shared in an upcoming update.
