Students at East Hill Elementary School were treated to a special visit from Lucius “Too Tall” Winston of the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters, bringing excitement, laughter, and an unforgettable message of kindness and perseverance to the school community.
Winston, who has been with the Harlem Globetrotters for nine years, shared both his incredible basketball skills and powerful life lessons about believing in yourself, showing kindness, and never giving up on your dreams.
“Lucius ‘Too Tall’ Winston of the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters,” he introduced himself to a cheering crowd of students. “I’ve been with the team for nine years and I’m excited to be here at East Hill Elementary School to put on a mini show—to show them what the Harlem Globetrotters are all about. We’re not just about the tricks, the dunks, or the four-point shots—we’re about giving back to the community, inspiring kids, and creating memories everywhere we go.”
The assembly blended fun and inspiration. Winston wowed students and staff alike with his signature Globetrotter tricks, led friendly competitions between teachers, and encouraged teamwork through interactive student challenges. His message focused on the importance of inclusiveness, kindness, and resilience—values that align closely with East Hill’s commitment to a positive and supportive school culture.
East Hill Principal Jinna Lee shared her gratitude for the visit and the impact it had on students.
“It’s an incredible experience for our community to welcome someone of Lucius Winston’s stature,” Lee said. “His visit reminds our students that greatness isn’t just about talent—it’s about character, kindness, and believing in yourself and each other.”
The event left students energized and inspired, proving that a little positivity—and a few dazzling basketball moves—can go a long way in helping young learners dream big and lift one another up.
