Creating A Welcoming Environment for All Students and Families

Background

This year, our leadership team, including all school-based and central office leaders, are working on action learning projects to address key barriers to student achievement.

As part of this important work, we engaged our students, families, staff, and community members in an online discussion this fall about creating or sustaining a welcoming environment in our schools and buildings for all students and families.

Results

Through an online conversation platform called Thoughtexchange, 35 participants shared 56 thoughts and 667-star ratings.

Five themes emerged from the comments and ideas shared:

  • Positive staff relationships
  • Greeting visitors and sign-in process
  • Volunteer opportunities
  • Parent and family engagement
  • Equity, diversity, and inclusion

Thank you for contributing your thoughts and ideas! We invite you to explore this feedback through our online, interactive report.
