Mainfreight Delivers Joy, Smiles and Books in Homes!
Tables covered with books filled the gymnasium and students’ faces lit up with joy as they browsed through the various books available. Many of them took their time putting great thought and care into their selections. After making their choices, they could barely contain their excitement as they eagerly began to look through the new books. This is the goal of the partnership between Mainfreight and Books in Homes.
Mainfreight is a global logistics provider with a local branch in the Kent valley. They deliver products wherever they need to go, and in this case, brand-new books for students to take home. Mainfreight values hard work, ingenuity, and a deep care for one another, which is called, "The Mainfreight Difference." A significant component of their company is community involvement.
Mainfreight recently provided a Books in Homes USA sponsorship to three Kent School District (KSD) schools. Books in Homes selects schools from remote or low socio-economic circumstances, and this scholarship consists of a $4,000 grant for each school, which the Kent School Board recently approved. This grant allows students to select three new Scholastic books to take home to either begin or continue building their libraries. The selected schools are East Hill, George T. Daniel, and Springbrook elementaries. Since its official launch in 1995, Books in Homes has supplied over 12 million books to over 500 schools globally. KSD is grateful to both Books in Homes and Mainfreight for this sponsorship to continue inspiring the love of reading in students and helping to further our mission of successfully preparing all students for their futures.
Mainfreight has already visited East Hill and George T. Daniel Elementary schools and will visit Springbrook later this month.
