Every day from 2:30-3:30 p.m., a group of TOP students is learning how to sew. Paraeducators Mary Lopez and Hilary Robinson started the sewing group after students Michelle Ly and Gabby Merrill asked to be taught.
The group has now more than doubled in size with the students leading the way.
“We go to Joanne’s and pick out our fabric,” says student Gabby Merrill. The group is already working on their third project of the school year.
“I have made my own pajama pants, burp rags for a baby, and now I’m making a pillowcase. I like making new stuff that I’m [going to] enjoy or give to people,” says student Katie Atchison.
All the students agree that the best part of sewing group is learning a new skill with their friends and paras.
