Thank You Principal Lloyd & Assistant Principal Ly!

Principal Arneidra Austin-Lloyd

While this is Principal Austin-Lloyd’s first year in the Kent School District, she brought with her more than a decade of experience in educational leadership. She is dedicated to making a positive impact in students’ and families’ lives.

“I strive to be the best leader I can be for the teachers, staff, and students that I lead,” she said. “It makes me smile when I see students having fun learning in safe, productive, supportive environments.”

Principal Austin-Lloyd’s commitment to creating a supportive and equitable learning environment is apparent the moment you walk into Springbrook, she listens and partners with families to ensure their child’s needs are being met.

“I give my best effort in hopes my students look to me to be the positive change in the world they wish to see,” she said.

Assistant Principal Tom Ly

Assistant Principal Tom Ly may be new to the Kent School District community this year, but he brings more than a decade of experience helping students succeed in the classroom and is excited to help Springbrook Elementary students reach for the stars!

“I want to see our students excel academically, socially, and emotionally,” he said. “We have a very capable group of students and teachers.”

Before coming to Kent School District, Mr. Ly worked in Seattle Public Schools and made changes in his dual language classroom to help students achieve success.

“We were told that these students could not make strong growth in the elementary setting according to national trends,” he said. “That was almost true, but my colleague and I refused to accept the status quo.”

That year, he and his colleagues worked to generate new lessons and invited community partners like the YMCA to support their students in reading.

“We kept at it,” he said. “Our dual language students ended up outperforming the English-only counterparts and the trend continued in the next several years. This shows that the systems of differentiation, aligning the curriculum, and targeted instruction works anywhere. I know we can do the same for Springbrook!”

Mr. Ly is focused on helping students, parents, and the community.

“The best part of the job is working with the school community to move our students and teachers forward,” he said.
