Yukiko Miller Receives National Board Certification

Yukiko Miller was recognized by the school board at a recent meeting for her achievement. She has worked as a school nurse in the Kent School District for the past three years and currently works with students at Martin Sortun and Jenkins Creek elementary schools. Yukiko has previously worked at Neely-O’Brien and Kent Valley Early Learning Center. She enjoys assisting students and their families and educating students on skills for healthy living.

The National Board for Certification of School Nurses (NBCSN) certification process focuses specifically on the individual and is an indication of current competence in a specialized area of practice. Board certification in school nursing is highly valued and provides formal recognition of school nursing knowledge and expertise. Three years of experience in school nursing practice are recommended for eligibility.

Certification requirements:

  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the United States.
  • Attainment of bachelor's degree or higher in nursing or health related field, or the equivalent in other countries, or current certification by NBCSN.
  • Must be currently employed in school health services or school health related services.
