Staying Warm for the Winter

Each year, the Knights of Columbus Council 11780 coordinates the Coats for Kids program through Communities in Schools of Kent (CISK). They have provided warm winter gear for students for over ten years in Kent School District (KSD).

Fundraisers for the coats were supported by the parishioners from Saint John theStudents at Springbrook Elementary during the coat drive Baptist Catholic Church. Communities In Schools of Kent identifies the school and works with the Knights to distribute the coats. Over 1,300 coats and 1,300 hats were gifted to KSD students during this program by CISK and Knights of Columbus volunteers.

The needs of the students at Springbrook Elementary School are significant, with over 71% qualifying for the free/reduced lunch program.
