Kent School District (KSD) intends to offer a sustainable online school that expands on our existing non-traditional, choice school and programming options for students starting in Fall 2022. This new learning experience will be different than the remote and hybrid learning models offered during the COVID-19 closure in the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years.
Our planning team is seeking the perspective of students, staff, families, and community to help us design an innovative virtual school with integrated student supports.
ThoughtExchange will launch on January 31 for all stakeholders to share their thoughts on the supports students need to be successful in an online setting/program. This exchange closes at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 18.
Information and listening sessions will begin the week of February 7 for audiences such as families and community members, teachers, and KSD staff to learn more about initial virtual school student profile and student experience.
Targeted surveys will begin the week of February 7 for students, families, and building administrators to capture feedback on core school model elements and community supports.
Student interviews will begin late February as a follow-up to survey responses to ensure student voice continues to be the cornerstone of our design as we finalize the virtual school model in March.
Stakeholder input is critical for our virtual school design. Ensuring we receive input from multiple lenses and diverse perspectives will empower the planning committee and leadership team to co-construct with the KSD community an impactful and sustainable mission and vision for this learning experience that will long-withstand the COVID-19 pandemic.
