Kentridge High School Senior Austin Freeman has been selected as the first student member of our Kent School District Board of Directors.
Austin has dedicated his time to advocating for his peers and improving opportunities for students by engaging with Superintendent Dr. Watts and district leadership.
“I’m thrilled to join the Board of Directors to provide a student lens and fresh perspective on important issues,” he said.
Austin has served in several leadership roles, including as a class senator at Kentridge, as a member of the KSD Strategic Planning Steering Committee, and currently represents Kentridge on the Superintendent’s Student Leadership Advisory.
The purpose of student representation on the Board of Directors is to serve as liaison between the governing body of KSD and high school students, according to Board Policy 1250.
Students from the Superintendent’s Student Leadership Advisory who wanted to be considered for the position submitted applications earlier this year.
Please join us in welcoming Austin at our next School Board meeting tomorrow, March 13 at 7 p.m. at our Administration Center.
