On Thursday, May 2, a high school student was assaulted while walking home from school in the Highlands Park area. The student was contacted by a man of medium build, darker complexion, approximately 40 years old, wearing a blue hoodie and black pants. The individual is reported to have dark wavy hair and is unshaven. The King County Sheriff’s office is actively investigating this incident and we cannot share specific information or details. Officers will be patrolling the area and are looking for the individual. As of this time, no one has been arrested.
As a precaution, there will be increased visibility of our safety personnel in the area. In addition, the staff at your school has also been alerted so they can be vigilant as well.
Please take some time to review with your student the precautions they should take to remain safe:
Always stay in well-supervised and well-traveled areas.
Tell an adult immediately if you see someone or something that makes you worry or feel uncomfortable.
Stay with friends. Don’t travel alone.
If a stranger approaches you, yell, scream, and run.
