Back-to-School Checklist

The first day of school is here, and we want you to be as prepared as possible to start this year off on the right foot. Here are some things to keep in mind as you prepare for school.

Reset your Student Password for the Office 365 account

On August 16, student passwords were reset for the 2022-2023 school year. Students will be prompted to create a password after their next login attempt. This password is used to access student email, Office 365, and other software. Learn more about this process on our website.

Get your School Supplies

School Supply lists for the 2022-2023 school year are updated on our website. Make sure you are getting the supplies you need before the first day! You can also request supplies using this form on our website.

Know your Bus Route

The 2022-2023 bus pick-up times and locations are now available in Skyward Family Access under “bussing.” Bus passes are being mailed out throughout the week of August 16. Bus passes are required to ride the bus, so make sure you have your bus pass daily as you enter a Kent School District Bus. You can learn more about how to check your bus route and find your school pick-up time on our website.

Learn the Bell Schedule

This year our comprehensive high schools and Kent Laboratory Academy will start at 7:30 a.m. and dismiss at 2:10 p.m. You can learn more about this change on our website. Our elementary and middle schools will keep the same bell schedule as last year. The bell schedules for all KSD schools can be viewed on our website.

Plan to Get Students To & From School Safely

We encourage all students, families, and drivers to be aware of their surroundings and obey traffic signals and crossing guards as they travel to and from school. Check out these transportation tips for bus riders, walkers, and drivers.

Update Your Contact Information in Skyward

Update your emergency contact information, including telephone numbers and email addresses in Skyward Family Access, so we can be sure to reach you with important information and updates. Please call your school’s office if you are unable to login.

Take Care of Immunizations and Return Health Forms

Provide proof of your student’s immunization status on the Certificate of Immunization Status form. Washington State law requires all students to be fully immunized against chicken pox, hepatitis B, diphtheria, tetanus, polio, measles, pertussis, mumps, and rubella before attending school.

If your child has a life-threatening condition or needs medication at school, please visit the health services area of our website or contact your school nurse for more information.

Attend Back-to-School Events

Many back-to-school ice cream socials, open houses, and events are taking place before school begins. Visit your school’s website and check the calendar to find out when any back-to-school events are scheduled. You can also contact your school to find out.

Know your School & Classroom Information

Continue to check your email and physical mail for information like class lists and schedules from your student’s school in the coming weeks. If you have questions, please contact your student’s school.
