Each week throughout the school year, the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) recognizes varsity athletes from across the state for their accomplishments in the classroom and in their sport. Kentridge High School Senior Elizabeth (Lizzy) McKnight was nominated and selected as one of the week seven winners for qualifying for the 4A State Meet in her first meet of the season, with a score of 370.
Lizzy is a former gymnast who joined the Kentridge swim and dive team her sophomore year of high school. She is known for her positive attitude and lifting up her teammates, which is why she was nominated by her dive coach, Casey Stoflet, for this recognition.
"Lizzy continues to amaze me,” Stoflet said. “She gives over 100 percent every day! She continues to improve every season and every meet. You can see how much she loves this sport just by watching her. It’s hard to believe she only began diving three years ago."
Lizzy also recently broke the Kentridge school record with a score of 435.65.
