October 1, 2021 KSD Updates
Happy October! This month we have a great number of recognitions and celebrations including continuing to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, National Principals Month, LGBT History Month and so many more. You can view the list of celebrations on the KSD (Kent School District) Calendar, watch board meetings, read news stories, and watch videos of these celebrations all month long. You can also show your school staff appreciation and learn alongside your students as schools across our district join in the celebrations!
Here are a few updates for Friday, October 1. Thank you for continuing to read school and district emails, reviewing updates sent home with your student and checking your school website for the most up-to-date news and information. If you have an elementary student, be sure to watch for information about conferences later this month!
Thank you KSD Custodians for making our schools and buildings shine and keeping them clean and safe! Read More.
As the seasons change and fall weather sets in, now is a great time to update your emergency contact information, including telephone numbers and email addresses, in Skyward Family Access. Please call your school office if you are unable to login.
Each and every student in our district benefits every day from the resources provided by our voters. There is a gap between what the state funds and the education Kent School District provides to students. Local levy funds make up the difference. Staying Home When Sick
The health and safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Students learn better when they feel well. Staying home when sick with COVID-19 symptoms is essential to keep COVID-19 infections out of schools and prevent it from spreading to others.
Students and school employees who have symptoms of infectious illness, such as influenza (flu) or COVID-19, should stay home and seek medical evaluation, including testing for COVID-19 and other respiratory infections.
How can you help? Our schools need:
- To have emergency telephone numbers for you and someone else who can help if you are not available in the event your student becomes ill at school.
- To know about any health problems your child has or has had in the past.
- To be notified when you are keeping your student at home due to illness.
- To know if your student has a condition which could be spread to others.
Thank you for doing your part to support students, schools and staff and helping us keep schools open and slow the spread of the virus.
