Dear KSD Community,
Over the last two weeks, I have had the privilege to address our KSD graduates as they celebrated the culmination of their public education journey. Through graduation, we were able to come to together to recognize each student for their hard work and contributions, their efforts, sacrifices, and dedication to our community, their families and our schools.
I am so proud of each and every member of the class of 2018. This is a special group of young adults and I am so excited for what the future holds because of them.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr said “We must remember that intelligence is not enough. Intelligence plus character, that is the goal of true education.” In the Kent School District, students receive both an education and the opportunity to develop their character. And while each of our graduates had a unique journey, their path led to graduation, and that is something to celebrate. It is the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. It is the step on the path of a journey that for each student will continue to be defined by their choices and shaped by their core values.
Thank you, students, for all that you are, I look forward to all that you will do for our community and our world. Thank you, staff and family, for your support of this amazing graduating class. Congratulations class of two-thousand eighteen!
Dr. Calvin J. Watts
