School Closure and Delay Notification Methods
Kent School District has several different methods of notification when school is closed or delayed due to inclement weather.
Automated Phone Calls
Automated phone calls will be made early in the morning to the primary household number(s) for each family. Please ensure your contact information is current in the Skyward system.
In addition, it is recommended to provide a telephone option that will operate during a power outage. (Many landlines are now bundled with cable services and do not work during power outages.)
Emails via Skyward Family Acces
Emails will be sent to all parents/guardians and KSD accounts. Login to Skyward Family Access to ensure your contact information is current so you will receive all emergency and important communications.
Kent School District Mobile App Notifications
Notifications will be sent through the Kent School District mobile app directly to mobile phones. If you haven’t already, download the free app from the AppStore or Google Play. Be sure to enable push notifications to receive the alerts.
You can choose to view the app in one of 77 available languages. Visit the app’s settings and select your preferred language to get started. Step-by-step instructions for Android users are available at www.kent.k12.wa.us/Page/7404.
District and School Website Alerts
Alerts will be posted on the Kent School District and school homepages.
