Tools to Support All Students
Kent School District (KSD) uses a variety of assistive technology tools to remove learning barriers for students with special learning needs.
We offer low-tech, medium-tech, and high-tech solutions to address an individual student’s area of focus as outlined on the Continuum of Assistive Technology Solutions (PDF).
Any student can benefit from using assistive technology tools.

Microsoft has many accessibility resources available to all KSD students.

Immersive Reader is a tool, built into Word, OneNote, Outlook, Office Lens, Teams, Flipgrid, and Edge browser, that implement proven techniques to improve reading for people regardless of their age or ability.

Bookshare is an ebook library that makes reading easier. Members can access a huge collection of ebooks and read their way with the most customizable ebooks for people with reading barriers.

Co:Writer
As letters are typed, Co:Writer predicts the intended word with a selection of word suggestions using powerful grammar-smart word prediction. These suggestions can be read aloud by moving the cursor over the words.
Co:Writer can only be used with Google Chrome. It’s available on your KSD laptop for immediate installation and login with Microsoft.

Snap&Read
Snap&Read Universal reads both accessible and inaccessible text aloud from websites, images, photographs, PDFs, and more. Snap&Read also adjusts complex text to be more readable and can translate text into over 100 languages. You can even take a picture and have the text within that picture read aloud.
Snap&Read is available on your KSD laptop for immediate installation and login with Microsoft.
