Getting to Know Meadow Ridge
I am very excited to join the Meadow Ridge community. When I interviewed with the hiring committee back in the spring, I knew immediately that Meadow Ridge was the place I wanted to be. I started on July 1, and over the past few months, I met with school staff and district personnel to learn more about our school. I can’t wait to get to know our students and families better.
My Education & Experience
I come to Meadow Ridge and Kent with 25 years of educational experience. I was a principal for the past eight years in the Highline School District. After earning my administrative credentials at the University of Washington, I spent three years as assistant principal.
I was a teacher in the Central District of Seattle for nine years, a math coach in the Seattle Public Schools central office for four years, and a head teacher in West Seattle for two years. I earned my teaching certificate at Seattle Pacific University and my bachelor’s degree in Zoology at the University of Washington. I also earned my master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Washington.
Our Goals for the Fall
The staff and I have been working hard to improve teaching and learning at Meadow Ridge. We adopted new mathematics materials in Kent called Ready Classroom Mathematics. We will use these materials to increase deeper student understanding around math concepts. We will also consistently hold classroom meetings every day so that students can connect to our school and begin problem solving with one another. Finally, we will work together to make our instruction stronger with clear learning goals and planning.
We will create opportunities this year for families to share what they would like to see at Meadow Ridge. Please check your child’s teacher’s newsletters and our monthly school newsletter for ways to share your opinion and to get involved.
If you have any questions about anything, please do not hesitate to contact us. I look forward to a wonderful 2019-2020 school year together.
