Assessments Calendar

  • The Kent School District Assessment Calendar outlines the state and district approved assessment windows, during which schools can decide when to administer assessments. Please check with your school for specific testing information for your student.

The KSD Assessment team prioritizes instructional time by setting up systems to support a streamlined and efficient test period. We try to minimize the extent to which windows overlap to limit student and teacher testing fatigue. This calendar is based on:

    • State testing windows
    • School data cycles
    • Reporting requirements
    • Building calendars.

The WIDA Screener is not listed on the calendar because of the method of administration. Students are identified to participate in the WIDA English language proficiency screener based on the Home Language survey indicating what language is spoken at home. Students must be screened within 10 calendar days of enrollment in school, per state requirements.

Assessments Overview

  • About Us

The Assessment team supports student goal achievement by designing, implementing, and promoting systems to get reliable data that supports data informed instructional decision-making so that students can reach their graduation goals.

    How We Serve

The Assessment team works with schools and other central administration teams to build a balanced and efficient system of assessment. Our systems incorporate state required and district selected assessments that educators can use to measure student learning and identify interventions to prepare each student for their future after high school. Within these systems, our goal is to translate the language of compliance into a streamlined, practical process of assessment designed to meet student goals.

Reliable student testing: Getting good data

Our team builds a cohesive system of assessment in support of educators and in compliance with administration protocols. Ensuring our efforts reflect accountability guidelines, we deploy efficient training opportunities, offer comprehensive resources and support, and guide formative and summative assessment practices to build a wholistic picture of student learning.

Data-informed instructional decisions: Applying the data

Our team compiles and submits state required reports in collaboration with other central administration teams to ensure our data collection and progress monitoring tools are capturing necessary details. These reports are often pivotal for building leaders to quantify goals and track progress across school years. We collaborate with our district Research team to provide building leaders with access to intuitive data dashboards displaying student assessment scores so they can make informed decisions. Finally, we empower students and families to take ownership of their learning and growth by supporting family access to assessment scores.

Graduation Pathways  Governance: Supporting student graduation goals

Our team monitors legislative activity, communicates changes to state rules affecting graduation requirements, and supports high school administrators and counselors in their commitment to helping students reach their graduation goals.

    Secondary Functions

Our team stays up-to-date on the latest resources to provide assessment professional development and support opportunities throughout the year. We also manage assessment delivery and reporting systems.
