Academy Graduation Ceremony Information

  • 2021 Graduation Update: February 5, 2021

We are excited to announce the date for the 2021 Academy graduation ceremony. We make this announcement and decision now, in February 2021, recognizing that this month marks our county's eleventh consecutive month managing the impacts of a global health crisis, and that we currently remain in Phase 2 under the Governor’s Healthy Washington — Roadmap to Recovery plan.

Public Health officials continue to advise us that gathering in groups—even with people we know—may spread COVID-19. Therefore, the safest action, especially for students, families, and staff in a high-risk category, is to avoid gatherings and find different ways to celebrate. We make this announcement with full hearts, looking forward to partnering with our students and families to plan and prepare to celebrate this exceptional class of students graduating during this extraordinary time.

Seniors who have met all graduation requirements are invited to participate in an individualized Senior Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, June 17.

This individualized ceremony honors candidates for graduation and provides an opportunity to walk across a stage here at our academy, with four (4) family members present, to receive their diploma cover while wearing their cap and gown.

Professional photos will be taken of each scholar and available for purchase. Personal photo opportunities for families will also be provided on campus.

To ensure we can follow state and county social distancing guidelines, we will schedule arrival times for students by last name. This spring, additional information and details will be provided as we approach graduation.

To ensure social distancing while honoring our seniors, our families will comply with the following procedures:

    1. Students and their families will arrive in a single vehicle at the designated time. Families and students are encouraged to decorate their vehicles.
    2. Each graduate's name will be posted in the passenger side window.
    3. Families will follow the map provided by each school to show where to enter the school grounds and the route to follow.
    4. Families will drive to a designated area where there will be a stage and a family viewing area.
    5. Families will remain in the vehicle until told to exit.
    6. When directed, students will proceed to the stage where they will have their names read aloud, and they will walk across the stage to receive their diplomas. A professional photographer will be present to take photos.
    7. Students will also receive a Commencement Program to remember this important milestone.
    8. Families may exit their vehicle to view their students walking across the stage. Families must remain in the area designated for this purpose. Families are not to leave this area.
    9. Students and families will then re-enter the vehicle and proceed either off-campus using the designated route or to a designated photo area for family photos.

Our families and students are encouraged to decorate their vehicles. If a family does not have access to a car, we will support the student's participation in this important event. Please contact your school counselor if you need assistance.

We will provide additional information and details as we get closer to graduation. Meanwhile, our seniors will be reviewing their graduation plans with our counselors to determine if they are on track, and we will focus on ensuring everyone remains healthy and safe and is prepared to graduate.  We look forward to celebrating the achievement of our graduating seniors!
