About iGrad

  • Individualized Graduation & Degree (iGrad) Program

Kent School District, Green River College, and Renton Technical College have a unique partnership that offers a second plus chance to students who have dropped out or are at risk of dropping out of high school. Washington State law makes this possible under the provisions of ESSHB 1418, an Open Doors Youth Re-engagement Program.

iGrad will provide all instruction, tuition, and required academic skills assessments at no cost to the students.

    A Non-Traditional Location & Schedule

Students can participate in one or more program options:

    • Kent School District Diploma
    • Washington State Diploma
    • High School Equivalency Certificate (GED®)
    • College certificate
    • Industry certificate
    • Two-year degree

    Option 1: KSD Diploma Program

Students who participate in the Kent School District diploma program must attend nine hours of class per week and can do the bulk of their classwork on the computer away from the classroom.

Please note during the remote/hybrid learning timeframe (April 19 through June 25, 2021) the in-person hours are reduced to 6.5 hours per week based on the student selected cohort group. View cohort group days and times.

Classes are held at the iGrad campus (25668 104th Avenue SE, Kent).

    • 8:40 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays
    • 8:40 a.m. to 1:20 p.m. on Wednesdays
    • 8:40 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays

    Option 2: KSD GED® Program

Students who participate in the Kent School District GED® program must attend nine hours of class per week.

Please note during the remote/hybrid learning timeframe (April 19 through June 25, 2021) the in-person hours are reduced to 6.5 hours per week based on the student selected cohort group. View cohort group days and times.

Classes are held at the iGrad campus (25668 104th Avenue SE, Kent).

    • 8:40 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays
    • 8:40 a.m. to 1:20 p.m. on Wednesdays
    • 8:40 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays

Option 3: Green River College GED® Prep Classes

Students who take the Green River College GED® prep classes have the option of day or evening classes, either face to face or hybrid, at the Kent Station or Auburn Center locations.

Option 4: Green River College Programs

Each quarter, students work with an academic advisor to select classes that are required for the Washington State Diploma, certificate programs and two-year degree options. These classes are available throughout the day and evening, either face to face, online or hybrid at any of the Green River College locations.

Option 5: Renton Technical College Programs

Students may work on GED®, diploma, college classes or college degree as a path to their high school credential. Through iGrad, Renton Technical College (RTC) becomes your school with all fees and tuition waived. Different pathways offer different levels of flexibility.

Most diploma classes require about three hours of participation a week and offer the opportunity to "catch up" on credit faster than a traditional high school. The GED® credential is the most self-paced and flexible.

Students interested in college classes/programs can expect a stricter and more demanding schedule than GED®/diploma. RTC will help you build your pathway based on your goals, preferred timeline and credential.

Classes are held at the Renton Technical College campus.
