  • High School Fire Camp

    Wednesday - Friday, June 28 - 30, and Wednesday - Saturday, July 5 - 8, 2017,  9:00 a.m - 3:00 p.m. Camp is FREE to attend but you must provide your own transportation and lunch.

    Location: Police/Fire Training Center, 24523 116th Ave. SE, Kent, WA 98030 

    This camp will introduce high school students to careers in firefighting and public service. Each day will cover different aspects of the professions and will teach students many practical skills.

    Subjects covered in the camp include:

    ·         Discussions on a career in the fire service led by both male and female firefighters
    ·         The hiring process and requirements
    ·         Different roles and assignments within the department.
    ·         Firefighter equipment and protective clothing
    ·         Psychology of stress and trauma that firefighters face

    Hands-on training will include:

    ·         Use of “bunker gear”, including coat, pants, gloves, boots, and helmet
    ·         Use of firefighting hose lines of different sizes
    ·         Ground ladder use
    ·         Search and rescue
    ·         CPR/First aid
