Family Climate Survey Results

  • Background

In June 2022 the Kent School District sent out a Family Climate Survey to all families with students enrolled in KSD schools. This survey asks families to evaluate multiple statements about their child’s school relating to safety, learning environment, community engagement, and more.

The Kent School District has had climate surveys for the past 10 years. The questions on this survey remained the same from the last survey for year-to-year comparison purposes. Families had two weeks to complete the survey. About 15% of KSD families responded to the survey, or 2,388 out of 15,777 families.

We also gave a Staff Climate Survey in June of 2022; results can be found here.

    Current Context & Considerations

    • This was the first year since the 2018-2019 school year that students were in person for the whole year.
    • This survey was also administered shortly after the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas.
    • Fewer families took this survey this year than in the previous school year.
    • Respondents on average put school safety as their highest priority for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year.
