    Use the Secondary Daily Schedule, Secondary Learning Opportunities Schedule (PDF), and these online resources to structure learning opportunities for students every weekday during our closure.

    • Who: Grades K-12
    • Purpose: Access the eBook library.
    • Recommendation: Read for a minimum of 30 minutes every day. 
    • Instructions: Those who have opted in with the program may access their student account through the KCLS student portal using the following information:
      • Log-in: 415sn + ID number
      • PIN: Last 4 digits of ID number (if 3-digit ID number, precede with a “0”)

    Newsela

    • Who: Grades K-12
    • Purpose: Access nonfiction leveled text for all content areas.
    • Recommendation: Read one article every week.

    Scholastic Learn at Home

    • Who: Grades K-9
    • Purpose: Access literacy development skills activities.
    • Recommendation: Complete one activity every day.

    Mathematics Assessment Project (Lessons)

    • Who: Grades 6-12
    • Purpose: Develop an understanding of math concepts.
    • Recommendation: Complete one task every week.
    • Instructions: Visit the Mathematics Assessment Project website, go to the Lessons tab, and search by grades and content.

    Mathematics Vision Project: Algebra

    • Who: Algebra 1-2 students
    • Purpose: Review and practice Algebra 1-2 content.
    • Recommendation: Work on a part of a monthly module every day.

    Mathematics Vision Project: Algebra II

    • Who: Algebra 3-4 students
    • Purpose: Review and practice of Algebra 3-4 content.
    • Recommendation: Work on a part of a monthly module every day.

    • Who: Geometry students
    • Purpose: Review and practice Geometry content.
    • Recommendation: Work on a part of a monthly module every day.

Multiple Subject Areas

  • Actively Learn

    • Who: Grades 3-12
    • Purpose: Develop reading and argumentative writing skills.
    • Recommendation: Read an article, watch a video, or complete a simulation and answer the connected questions every day.
    • Instructions: Complete the following steps to log in.
      • Log in via Clever with KSD login/password.
      • Choose independent reading.
      • Choose your grade level.
      • Choose an article of interest to read (read article review to help in selection).
      • While reading, respond to questions and prompts found within the article and on the margins.

    Discovery Education

    • Who: Grades K-12
    • Purpose: Develop literacy skills in all content areas through online articles.
    • Recommendation: Read an article every day.
    • Instructions: Use your Kent School District login information (the same username and password you use to login in on your district laptop).

    PBS Learning Media

    • Who: Grades K-12
    • Purpose: Practice reading and writing through visual media.
    • Recommendation: Watch every week and complete 4-5 questions from the support materials.
    • Instructions:
      • Visit the PBS Learning Media website.
      • Click on the appropriate subject and grade level.
      • Click on the topic/video you want to view.

    • Who: Grades K-12
    • Purpose: Explore body movement through dance.
    • Recommendation: Complete 1-2 activities every day.

    • Who: Grades 9-12
    • Purpose: Review past material, preview upcoming material, and explore topics.
    • Recommendation: Choose one or two tasks a week and complete the activity.

    PhET Interactive Simulations

    • Who: Grades 3-12
    • Purpose: Investigate science content and increase science skills.
    • Recommendation: Complete one simulation and/or visual experiment every week. 
    • Instructions: Search by grade level or subject area to find simulations of interest. Lessons may be found under the "For Teachers" tab. Students can follow a lesson or investigate on their own.

    The Physics Classroom

    • Who: High school Physics
    • Purpose: Supplemental instructional material for high school science students.
    • Recommendation: Review past material, preview upcoming material, and explore topics every week.

    Science News for Students

    • Who: Grades 6-12
    • Purpose: Read current event articles in science.
    • Recommendation: Choose an article every week and discuss with a family member or friend the claim of the article and whether you agree or disagree with the author's claim and why.
