Become a KSD Interpreter
The Kent School District (KSD) invites families and community members to become interpreters.
We welcome all languages and are in need of interpreters for the following languages as a priority:
- American Sign Language (ASL)
All KSD interpreters are required to complete training before they can begin working. The training is waived for those who have already completed the Washington State Interpreter Certification and can provide KSD with a copy of the certificate.
The District and schools will call interpreters who have completed training and been cleared through KSD Human Resources on an as-needed basis throughout the school year.
Approved interpreters are paid passed on hours worked.
- $18.70 per hour for a KSD-trained interpreter
- $25.00 per hour for a Washington State certified interpreter
Kent School District interpreter training is provided by Puget Sound Educational Service District (PSESD) staff and capped at 30 participants.
The Kent School District does not pay our internal staff or parents to attend this training as this is a supplemental job.
Interpreter training will be offered three times throughout the 2019-2020 school year.
All events are held at the KSD Administration Center Puget Sound Room (12033 SE 256th Street, Kent) from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Participants may park out front and must check-in at the front desk.
