Summer Testing (K-6)
Available to Select Students
Kent School District Highly Capable (HiCap) testing is available in the summer to eligible students.
- Students who are new to the Kent School District
- Students who missed the normal testing during the school year due to circumstances beyond their control
- Students who have been invited to test through the appeal process
Return Required Forms by July 12
To register for testing, please complete both required forms and return them to the Kent School District Administration Center (12033 SE 256th Street, Kent) before Friday, July 12.
Due to summer hours, we will be closed and unavailable to accept forms in person on select days.

Prepare Students for Testing on July 30
Summer testing will take place at the Kent School District Administration Center Puget Sound Room (12033 SE 256th Street, Kent) from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on July 30.
Student drop off and pick up will happen outside the main Kent School District Office. Please check in at the front desk and pick your student up promptly at 12:00 p.m.
Please ensure your child is well fed and well rested. Please ensure your child has a light snack, water, and a book to read.
Placement Decision Notification Process
Final placement decisions will be made by August 9, 2019. Placement decisions are based on a review of the Highly Capable CogAT Screener, district reading and mathematics achievement test data and a short, prescribed math and reading portfolio which the students will complete during the summer testing period.
Parents will receive letters in the mail indicating whether or not their child has been identified for the Highly Capable Program.
