    Kent Technology Academy


    The Kent Technology Academy, a Kent School District program of choice, is located on two campuses: Mill Creek Middle School and Kent-Meridian High School.  Students enroll in the Academy from across the school district.
    The Technology Academy is an innovative academic community dedicated to transforming education through thoughtful integration of technology with the most current knowledge of how students learn. Students acquire 21st Century Skills and probe new frontiers accessible through technology. Students attending the Academy will experience a challenging and exciting learning environment that expands their interests and develops their potential. Major interdisciplinary projects organized around Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) themes are supported through partnerships with organizations such as Microsoft. Students will:
    • Master core subject content
    • Experience 21st Century interdisciplinary themes
    • Develop digital-age literacy skills
    • Practice effective electronic communication
    • Be challenged with projects requiring innovative thinking and problem solving through passion-based learning
    • Learn life and career skills
    • Learn to work with others 
    Students laptops include specialized software to support rigorous, technology infused learning. The Technology Academy originally opened its doors in the fall of 2005 on the Mill Creek campus and expanded by one grade level every year until 2010, when the original group of Tech Academy students entered the 12th grade.
