  • Celebrating Our Students’ 2018-2019 SBA Scores

In early September, the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction released scores for the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) administered last spring to all third through eighth and eleventh-grade students in the state of Washington. The SBA measures student’s achievement toward the challenging national standards in language arts, mathematics, and science.

We are excited about our Sawyer Wood Eagles scores. The staff, students and parents should be very proud!  Although most Sawyer Woods students have demonstrated growth in language arts and mathematics and exceeded the national goals, we have other students who need additional work in order to meet the high standards.

Every year we take these SBA results, as well as other district, state, and national test scores, to determine school wide strategies in the areas of reading, writing and mathematics. This plan, called the Student Improvement Plan (SIP) was designed by staff last year and during the August workshop days. From our school wide SIP plan, teachers will create their classroom plans and specifically address the needs of the students within their classroom.
