College Success Foundation

  • High School HERO & Achievers Programs

Kent School District and the College Success Foundation (CSF) have partnered to bring the HERO and Achievers programs to Kent-Meridian, Kentridge, and Kentwood high schools.

CSF provides a unique integrated system of supports and scholarships to inspire underserved, low-income students to finish high school, graduate from college and succeed in life.

    HERO Program for Grades 9-10

The Higher Education Readiness Opportunity (HERO) Program provides the support students need to successfully navigate the transition from middle school to high school, manage the academic rigor of high school, and become college-ready.

School-based CSF advisors recruit students during the fall of freshman year (grade 9). Once selected, eligible students will remain in the HERO program for two years as part of a cohort.

    HERO advisors provide students with:

    • One-on-one college advising and planning.
    • HERO group meetings.
    • Grade and attendance monitoring.
    • College visits.
    • Motivational speakers.
    • College awareness activities.
    • Career exploration.
    • SAT/ACT test prep.
    • Summer programming.

HERO students may transition to the Achievers program in the fall of their junior (grade 11) year.
