Return to In-Person Learning
Kent School District plans to start hybrid learning (in-person and remote learning) beginning with elementary students when the COVID-19 infection rate reaches and remains in the moderate range as defined by the State of Washington Department of Health (DOH) Guidelines.
High COVID-19 Activity: >350 cases/100K/14 days, test positivity >10%
Moderate COVID-19 Activity: 50-350 cases/100K/14 days, test positivity 5-10%
Low COVID-19 Activity: <50 cases/100K/14 days, test positivity <5%.
Initial plans for hybrid learning will include younger elementary students (PreK-1) and students prioritized based on student needs.
We do not have a firm date for a return as of now. Based on current COVID-19 activity trends, we anticipate that the soonest PreK-1 grade students could begin limited in-person learning on February 22, 2021. However, this date is not confirmed and is for planning purposes only.
A final decision on a return date will be based on public health guidance, the spread of the virus in our community, and bargaining with our labor partners. In the meantime, remote learning continues.
