Michael Harris and Bridget Longe Harris raised a family in Ballyduff, County Waterford, Ireland. All the children, but one, Anthony Harris (2), emigrated. Bridget came to live with children in Republic Michigan after the death of Michael Harris her husband John Harris (1) immigrated to the United States. He wrote to the family, urging their emigration to the USA. In 1866 at the age of 14 Michael Harris (2) immigrated to the United states. He arrived at Hancock, Michigan - in the upper peninsula area of Michigan known as copper country. He worked in the mines for three years. In 1869 Michael Harris (2) moved to Marquette, Michigan where he worked for Edward Frazier as a lumber scaler. On August 19th 1872 he married Margaret Barry - they had six children. In 1872 Michael worked in the sawmill of F. W. Reed. He worked there till 1876. Bridget Harris and Cornelius Lynch were married in
Ballyduff, Lismore, Waterford County, Ireland on the fifth
of February 1865. Later that year they left their native
Ireland and arrived in Hancock, Michigan. According to the
USA Census of 1870 for Hancock, Michigan Cornelius was
working as a blacksmith.
