You are going to be planning your road trip
through the five regions of Washington State. You will need to calculate the
distances and all costs associated with the trip. You will decide where you
will eat, in which cities to spend the night and how many miles to travel
each day but you must stay within a budget. Your favorite teacher has left
you $2,500 to spend on the trip. He wants you to spend as much of the money
without going over. You will need to find prices for airfare to your region,
car rental prices, prices for a hotel, gasoline prices, prices for food and
any entertainment you choose.
While on this trip you will need to to find
prices for Hotels, campgrounds, rental cars and any entertainment you chose.
You will need to use the following information to create the cost of your
trip. All of your costs will need to recorded on a spreadsheet document.
Create the document with the number of days your trip will take with the
following expenses. Figure your expenses daily.
Food Rates
Fast Food (MacDonalds)..............................................$5/meal/person
Mid-Range (Red
Robin)................................................$9/meal/person
Luxury (Black
Angus)..................................................$15/meal/person
Hotel/Campground rates
These prices may be found using the internet, travel brochures,
newspapers or by telephone.
Rental Cars
The rates on your rental car will be determined by the teacher. You can
find a picture on the internet of the vehicle you would like to rent and the
rate will be determined by the teacher (the rental car companies require a
credit card for a price quote).
Gas
With cars there comes the need for gasoline. For this trip the cost of a
gallon of gas will be $1.50. You may want to think about this when you
choose your car.
Entertainment
The cost of any entertainment your group chooses needs to be recorded
and you need to explain the activity.
Miscellaneous
You will need to check your groups folder for any notes from the
teacher. These notes could be good (free tickets to a Mariner's game) or bad
(a flat tire or you ran out of gas)
