The Phylum Nematoda contains a number of round worms having a tubular digestive system and very diverse living conditions.

- Three tissue layers
- Ectoderm
- Mesoderm
- Endoderm
- Tube like digestive system - if any
- Ladder nervous system
- Some with sense organs
- Free-living in water or on land or parasitic.
- Examples: Ascaris, Hookworm, Trichina

Note the teeth-like plates that are used to attach this hookworm to the surface of the intestinal tract. Hookworms can each drink 1.0 ml of blood per day.
