research, b) work in pairs to gather information and then c) write a
compare and contrast essay concluding with their personal evaluation of
which tribe s/he believes was most successful and why. After which the
student who wishes to receive an "A" grade must compose a
"newspaper" showcasing their findings. Most of this work will be
completed in class. The newspaper will be an at-home project.
Step One: To begin, you must first pick a Native American tribe that you want to research. Please use the Bubble Map Thinking Map to organize your research and ideas. Step Two: Next, you'll want to do your research by using the Reference section.. Step Three: Then, you will meet with a partner who has a different tribe than you (if you have a Coastal tribe, your partner should have a Plains tribe) and compare and contrast your information using the Double Bubble Thinking Map. Step Four: After all this knowledge has been gained, you will compose a Compare and Contrast Essay with the final paragraph stating your opinion on which of the two tribes you studies was more successful and why you believe this to be true. Step Five: Lastly, for those wanting to earn an "A" grade, you will compose a Tribal Newspaper using the information you gained from this project. Please journey to the References section for the next step. |
