Kent School District will begin registering students for kindergarten January 17, 2017. Families residing in the District with children who will be five years old on or before August 31, 2015 are encouraged to register early to take advantage of kindergarten readiness events and activities.
“Itis very important to us that families have positive initial contact with the District before the first day of school,” said Director of Early Learning Page Perey Meyer.“Wewant to ease the transition for families, get to knowthem, and be prepared to meet their needs.”
KSD offers families who register early opportunities to meet teachers and tour their schools in the seven months prior to the start of kindergarten. In April or May, enrolled families will be invited to kindergarten orientation to foster engagement with the school community. And as school kicks off in the fall, WAKids parent connection conferences are an opportunity for families to meet individually with their child’s kindergarten teacher.
Registration packets are available at every elementary school in the Kent School District. To enroll, parents and guardians must register at their boundary school and provide immunization records, a health history form, proof of residency, and student identification and proof of age. Please inform the school if language assistance is needed.
