Kent Phoenix Academy Celebrates 2017 Winter Graduation
Kent Phoenix Academy held its winter graduation ceremony Tuesday, February 28, in the school’s library filled with family, friends, and representatives from across the District. Thirteen graduates received their high school diplomas and had the option of participating in the winter ceremony or waiting until the traditional graduation ceremony in June.
Graduate Esmeralda Arceo delivered the student commencement speech about self-worth and motivation that was funny, profound and heartwarming. Teacher Byron Stang shared words of wisdom with the students about how to be persistent when there are unexpected changes beyond their control by using the example of the KPA graduation ceremony being rescheduled due to inclement weather.
After students received their diplomas, they were able to ring the graduation bell, a tradition at the academy that begins with a smaller bell for course completions. Many students plan to continue their education in a wide array of career paths. Congratulations winter 2017 graduates!
