Monthly Character Trait

Cedar Valley is continuing to reward those students who do not receive a behavior slip within a month. Each month will target a specific character trait. The reward is a discipline incentive charm.

For the month of November, the discipline incentive charm includes the character trait “respect”. Students do not have to specifically demonstrate responsibility to receive this charm, any student who does not receive a behavior slip for the month of November will receive a charm. However, we will be sharing tidbits about respect with the students throughout the month. Here are some details about respect:

One of the most important things you can learn is respect. Keep in mind that respect is not the same as obedience. People might obey because they are afraid. If they respect you, they will obey because they know you want what is best for them. The best way to get respect is to show respect. When a person experiences respect, they know what it feels like and begin to understand how important it is. Keep in mind the saying “Do unto others as you would like them to do unto you.” Respect is an attitude. Being respectful helps you be successful. If a person doesn’t have respect of peers, authority or themselves, it’s almost impossible for them to succeed. A respectful person takes care of belongings and responsibilities, and a respectful person gets along with others.
