  • High School Fire Camp

    Monday - Saturday, June 20 - 25, 2016, 9:00 a.m - 3:00 p.m. Camp is FREE to attend but you must provide your own transortation and lunch.

    Location: Police/Fire Training Center, 24523 116th Ave. SE, Kent, WA 98030 

    This camp will introduce high school students to the career of being a firefighter. Each day will cover different aspects of the profession and will teach students many practical skills.

    Subjects covered in the camp include:

    ·         Discussions on a career in the fire service led by both male and female firefighters
    ·         The hiring process and requirements
    ·         Different roles and assignments within the department.
    ·         Firefighter equipment and protective clothing
    ·         Psychology of stress and trauma that firefighters face

    Hands-on training will include:

    ·         Use of “bunker gear”, including coat, pants, gloves, boots, and helmet
    ·         Use of firefighting hose lines of different sizes
    ·         Ground ladder use
    ·         Search and rescue
    ·         CPR/First aid
